The Office
for International Cooperation (OIC) is an institution specially founded
to deal with international affairs concerning Guilin University of
Electronic Technology (GUET) and aiming at developing new cooperative
relationships with perspective partners from all over the world.
OIC oversees the planning of GUET's
international relations by attending to a broad range of responsibilities.
OIC executes the university's
policies regarding external affairs and the coordination of international
academic exchange. Together with the university president, OIC drafts
new policies concerning international relations and thus plans the
development of projects involving international affairs in the University.
The office is also responsible
for handling the external affairs of departments throughout GUET.
OIC facilitates teaching, scientific research, and general academic
exchange by providing informational services. The office also oversees
foreign visits to the University; it invites foreign experts to the
university, participates in student recruitment, receives foreign
students, scholars, and visiting professors to the University, and
oversees the living arrangements and studies of these academic visitors
as well as the travel necessities of foreign dignitaries visiting
GUET. In addition, OIC assists the travel of the many students, teaching
and administrative staff going abroad on official university business
by handling passport and visa arrangements; the office also offers
recommendations to GUET professors and administrators for their personal
travel needs. Further responsibilities of the office include handling
international conference requests, keeping contact information and
relations with foreign universities, and attending to affairs identified
by the University president.
